Battery Separator
The manufacturing of PE separators predominantly utilizes high-density polyethylene (HDPE) incorporating a porous configuration developed through methodologies such as melt-blown extrusion or tensile stretching. The material selection emphasizes its chemical passivity, ensuring it maintains non-reactivity with the battery’s electrolyte medium (commonly sulfuric acid in lead-acid battery systems) and active electrode materials. AGM separators are structured from ultrafine fiberglass filaments (silica-based glass fiber compositions) compressed into a mat-like framework. These fibers undergo specialized surface modification to optimize hydrophilicity and adsorption capabilities, enabling the mat to immobilize the electrolyte in a gelatinous state.
